Pasture Grazing

A pasture pastime

Our pastures are paradise for grazing.

The cows enjoy fresh grass and the fresh Ammerland air as often as possible during the grazing season with plenty of space to roam.

And because we keep our herd to a maximum of around 200 animals, our dairy farmers can prioritize each animal's well-being. This is how we ensure the highest level of quality from the farm to the final product.

Animal Welfare

Luxurious living

Although our cows enjoy plenty of time outdoors, their time indoors is just as important. Our large, modern barns feature extra soft, comfy areas to lie down and access to fresh water and feed at all times.

For additional pampering, our cows often visit rotating cow brushes found in many areas throughout our spacious farms. These brushes groom and massage their skin, cleanse and remove parasites, and stimulate metabolism by increasing blood flow. It’s nothing but the best for them, of course.

From the pasture to the barn

Our cows get delicious, healthy, high-quality feed 365 days a year.

While in the barn, they’re treated to the best grass silage, created out of dried pasture grass compressed by our dairy farmers and preserved under the exclusion of air.

Modern farms

Bright light, clean air

Creating a pure product means nourishing pure cows, so controlling the quality of what they eat and what they breathe is crucial.

That’s why we regulate farm climates with temperature-controlled systems and fans. These tools help us guarantee good ventilation for our cows, preventing high humidity in winter and heat accumulation in summer.

Another way we influence and support their health? Good lighting! Our modern barns are so large and open that daylight provides plenty of pleasant lighting for our cows to bathe in.

We don’t keep the ingredients for our success a secret. It’s simple. Pure pastures, pure cows, and pure ingredients. It’s been that way since 1885, and we haven’t changed our approach since. It’s how we’ve grown to become one of Europe’s largest and most modern dairy co-ops today!

Our comprehensive quality management system with numerous certifications and external laboratory check-ins is a testament to our strict quality policy and the standard we have for serving you only the best.

Guaranteed Quality

From the farm …

Ammerländer wouldn’t be what it is today without our dairy farmers, and we make sure they know it. That’s why we only use milk from dairy farmers within a 80-kilometer radius of our dairy. While our commitment is essential in supporting our farmers, it also ensures that the raw milk we receive never has to travel long distances.

Once collected, our milk collection truck transports it from the farms directly to the dairy, where it is processed using the latest production and gentle manufacturing processes to give you the Ammerländer taste you know and love.
