Sustainability

In harmony with nature

To provide you with the best, it is our duty to maintain the best. After all, nature in its purest, most preserved state is the basis for healthy, functioning agriculture.

That’s why we’re dedicated to handling natural resources with care.

We honor our responsibility to our animals and environment, and it’s through consistent grazing that we contribute to preserving pastureland, an important habitat for numerous plants and animals.

Biodiversity

Good for our land

Giving our cows space to graze comes with ample benefits. Not only does it positively affect the health and welfare of our animals and the preservation of grassland, but because grazed areas are an important habitat for countless native creatures, it also promotes biodiversity!

Soil Health

Good for our region
We want to ensure Ammerländer is here for generations to come, which means we need soil that lasts. And when it comes to sustainable soil, permanent grassland is of great importance.

To keep our soil healthy, it's fortified by a firm sward that protects the groundwater body from nitrate and pesticide infiltration. Our pastures and meadows also store rainwater, which can prevent flooding.

Direct Path

One of a kind milk, from our one of a kind farmers
As a dairy farm, we’re hyper-aware and always conscious of the impact our activities have on the environment. That’s why one of our biggest concerns is the careful and intentional use of natural resources.

To ensure we never let a resource go to waste, we operate under a few non-flexible policies. For example, when collecting milk from our Ammerland dairy farms, located within a maximum radius of 80 kilometers from the dairy, we always choose the most direct and shortest route.

The milk is transported by a fleet of around 33 milk collection trucks. They drive to the farms around the clock and bring the raw milk to our plants in Wiefelstede-Dringenburg and Oldenburg in the shortest time possible to control temperature and quality.
